The commonest symptom of breast cancer is a breast lump (though all breast lumps are not cancers). Other common signs of breast cancer are deformity and nipple retraction.  A woman’s breasts go through many changes through her lifetime. It is important to be breast aware and seek advice if there are any persistent changes.

No-one knows what causes some women to develop breast cancer and majority of breast cancers are not hereditary. You may have a family history of breast cancer it is important that you tell your GP about this so that he/she can decide whether you may be at increased risk from breast cancer.
